Terror House Magazine is an independent literary magazine focused on nurturing and promoting the best up-and-coming writers of our generation.

Founded in Budapest, Hungary in 2018 by author and journalist Matt Forney, Terror House’s mission is to publish outsider literary fiction, literary nonfiction, and cultural criticism/analysis. We follow in the tradition established by trailblazers such as Fluland, Loompanics Unlimited, and Feral House, publishing works that are too edgy, unusual, or honest to be released elsewhere.

Support Our Writers

Because Terror House awards cash prizes to its best contributors, our operating expenses are higher than other lit mags. Don’t get us wrong: we run the site because we believe in our mission and we enjoy doing it. But belief doesn’t pay the rent, and the only income Terror House Magazine makes is the measly pennies from our Amazon affiliate links.

We have big plans to expand the site, and we need funds to implement them. Here are the changes we’re looking to make over the next few months, in order of importance:

• Paying all contributors to the site
• Raising the monthly cash prize we award to our best contributors
• Creating an email newsletter
• Creating Terror House Radio, a live show dedicated to discussions of literature, lit news, and interviews with contemporary authors
• Translating important works into English, as well as translating our most popular submissions into other languages
• And more…

If we can gain at least $500 a month in donations, we will be able to implement all of these additions and more.
