Islamism Map exposes the deeply interconnected network of Islamist organizations which operate in the middle of our societies. Islamist organizations often pretend to be independent NGOs, charities or religious organizations and have in the past been highly successful in infiltrating the political environment of their host countries, often benefiting from public funding and foreign funding they then use to work against these host countries. We believe it is important to show their true affiliation and connections and to do so based on legitimate, serious sources and research.

MAPPING GLOBAL ISLAMIST NETWORKS

Based on internationally renowned newspaper articles as well as institutional and academic research, the emphasis of Islamism Map is on entities affiliated with the Muslim Brotherhood, Hamas, Hizb-ut-Tahrir, Milli Görüs and Turkey’s AKP. Use several filters to navigate easier through our website, like “Islamist Media”, “Islamist Charity” or “Islamist Mosque”.

MONITORING ISLAMIST NETWORKS AND THEIR FUNDING

Furthermore, we try to keep an eye on recent developments, monitor social media accounts of important Islamist key individuals and organizations, translate their messages and criticize journalists who naively quote Islamists without mentioning their connections to problematic organizations. Moreover, we have created the largest publicly available database on the funding of Islamist organizations, having already gathered evidence of more than $293 million in tax money and foreign funding for Islamist groups.

PUBLICLY AVAILABLE IN THREE LANGUAGES

All of our research is openly available on our website www.islamism-map.com and our Twitter accounts (@IslamismMap (twitter.com/IslamismMap), @IslamismMap_de (twitter.com/IslamismMap_de), @IslamismMap_ar (twitter.com/IslamismMap_ar). Although we’ve already added more than 350 Islamist organizations to the map, more work needs to be done. We are only a small team, working mostly on a voluntary basis and lack the resources for further research. This is why we need additional financial backing.

Exposing Islamist organizations and individuals is a time-intensive task which requires daily monitoring of hundreds of organizations and individuals in several languages, translating their messages, reading and following news in several languages, analyzing the developments, and presenting our findings on our social media channels. Since most of our work is done voluntarily, donations would allow us to work on a full-time basis. In this first attempt, we seek to reach $10,000 which would allow us to spend more time on actual research and to update the map more constantly.
